The Day It Got to Minus 45ºC

December 13, 2009

Yesterday was the coldest day I have ever experienced in recent memory. The temperature was under -46ºC which is about -50ºF in Camrose, Alberta, Canada. In the past the temperature reached -45ºC with the windchill but in without the wind it was really ten degrees warmer. This was the real deal -45!

This is in contrast to the warmest I experienced in 2009 which was about 43ºC in June. This was at Yosemite National Park in California, USA at the top of Half Dome. So far this year I have experienced an 88ºC change of temperature.

What’s the coldest or warmest you have experienced in recent memory?
